The majority of Ylang Ylang is cultivated in the Comoro Islands, Madagascar, and Reunion.

There are five grades of quality the best known as Ylang Ylang Extra and is taken from the first hour of steam distillation of the flowers. Grades 1, 2, 3 and Complete are collected several times after the Extra is collected and once you have smelled the clarity of the Extra you will never choose the other grades. Aroma Thyme carries only Ylang Ylang Extra.
